5 Tips For Beginning Your First Workout

Beginning Your First Workout

Starting a workout program is one of the most difficult things to do in life, but it can be done. If you’re ready to get started on your first workout, we’ve got some tips for making it easier.

Set your goal and write it down.

Setting a goal is the first step. You need to be clear about what you want and how far you want to go. If you’re just starting, it may be helpful to write down three different goals for yourself, even if they aren’t related: one that is personal (e.g., losing weight or getting fit), one that is professional (e.g., getting promoted at work) and another that is health-related (e.g., running five miles without stopping!). These three areas should all be priorities in your life; don’t forget them!

Don’t try anything too tough at first.

If you’re new to working out, it’s important to start with something that you can do and then work your way up from there. If you’re not sure what exercises are right for you, ask a physical therapist or coach at the gym if they have any recommendations on how to get started.

It’s also important not to overdo it! Sometimes people will push themselves too hard and end up injuring themselves because they weren’t ready yet—so let yourself take your time and adjust as needed before trying something new again for this not to happen.

Exercise with a buddy or group.

To start, you’ll need to find a friend or group of friends that you can work out with. This is important because it will help keep you motivated and accountable for your goals. If you’re working out at home on your own, then it’s easy to forget about what needs to be done and give up when things get tough—but having someone else there keeps those negative thoughts from creeping in.

It’s also good practice for technique: once in a while ask yourself how well the exercise feels when performed by someone else (and then compare their technique with yours). You might even want to try doing some exercises differently just so that they feel different!

Keep a journal.

  • Record everything you eat, how much and when you exercise, and any other information that might be helpful for your future goals. It’s also a great way to track your progress over time as well as keep track of what worked for different workouts or diets. You could even use this journal as an accountability partner!
  • At the end of each workout session, write down how many calories were burned and any other metrics (such as heart rate) that may be relevant to those who want more specific measurements than just “I feel good.” You can take notes on these numbers later when reviewing old entries to see where improvements have been made since the last time around – which will help keep motivation high throughout the process!

Reward yourself!

It’s important to reward yourself for reaching your goals and staying on track. This can be as simple as getting a massage or going out with friends, but it also includes rewarding yourself for getting through a tough workout. It doesn’t have to be extravagant – just something you’ll enjoy doing on your own time.

It’s tough to get started but this will help you stay motivated.

You’re going to make it!

You may have felt like you were stuck in the mud for a long time, but now that you’ve gotten started on your journey of fitness and health, it’s time for a pep talk. As someone who has worked with hundreds of clients over the years, I want to remind myself and others how important their goals are:

  • You are doing great! You’re making progress every day and feeling good about yourself as a result.
  • You are on track with your plan—you’ve set realistic expectations for yourself each week or month (or whatever timeframe works best).
  • Your commitment is strong enough that even if things don’t go perfectly right away (or ever), there will still be results down the road if given enough time and effort applied at each step along the way (which means patience!).

Conclusion

Overall, getting started with a workout is a great way to start living a healthier lifestyle. You can make it as easy or as hard as you want by setting your goals and sticking to them. Just remember that consistency will be the key to success.
